Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) is a research-oriented public university situated in Germany. The university has a long history tracing its roots to 1502, withstanding revolutions, wars, and the Nazi period. But the past also accounts for some of the few prominent attractions like The Botanical Garden of Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, established in 1698, and MLU's historical observatory constructed in 1788 Prussian master builder and Royal architect Carl Gotthard Langhans. The university has nine faculties endowed with renowned professors known for extraordinary excellence in their fields of study. MLU has strong connections with pre-eminent research centers like the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Halle Institute for Economic Research. The links of MLU with prestigious universities across the globe provide its students an opportunity to study abroad in a culturally diverse environment. Although MLU is meticulously focused on research, the college has an orchestra, and a choir together called Collegium Musicum, which performs at Handel Festival.
