The first institution of higher education to be operated in the city of Boston in 1863, Boston College stands firm on its aim of developing and nurturing minds for the service of humankind. The students enrolled in BC are called "Eagles." events and experience productive exposure to numerous and deep-seated traditions. The Arts Festival, ALC Showdown, Marathon Monday, Student Involvement Fair, Beanpot are a few among many events organized by the college to give students a chance to explore every facet of life and learning. Almos 94% of faculty members hold doctoral degrees and are recognized for their outstanding expertise in their field. Inspired by the Universities' motto, "Ever to Excel," the alumni network of Boston College spreads over almost every sphere ranging from athletics to politics, from acting to research, from entrepreneurs to representatives of the law. A few notable names among many include the famous actor Chris O'Donnell, Head of YouTube Culture and Trends Google Kevin Allocca, Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, and Olympic Medalist Team USA Molly Schaus.
