About

The University of Cambridge stands tall in Cambridgeshire, England since 1209 as the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world followed by the University of Oxford. The two universities are often referred to as ‘Oxbridge’ owing to the overly similar characteristics that persist between them. Interestingly, scholars from Oxford migrated to Cambridge to escape Oxford’s riots of “town and gown” and this event factored in the foundation of the university.

Cambridge harbours thousands of students from all corners of the world in 31 autonomous colleges under six schools. These schools are Arts and Humanities, Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Technology. The University educated one of the key figures in the scientific revolution, Issac Newton and the most influential naturalist known for his contributions to the science of evolution, Charles Darwin. Cambridge's high-calibre students and alumni are highly sought after in the global recruitment markets. The university has around 140 centers and institutes that contribute to different areas of research, such as the Centre of African Studies; the Cambridge Centre for Economic and Public Policy; and the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics.
