Situated in the capital of the German state of Saarland, Saarland University was established in 1948 with the support of the French republic. Th university comprises six faculties, faculty of Human and Business Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Humanities, and Law faculty. Nanotechnology, medicine, Computer Science, European relations, politics, and law are the renowned fields of research that SU excels at. It is one of few German Universities offering the entire master's program in Computer Science in English. SU has an intense start-up culture and is ranked at number 2 in Germany's Start-up Radar leagues table. The SU campus is located on the outskirts of Saarbrücken city amidst picturesque hills, and one can always relish a short walk or cycling in the serenity of nearby natural forests. Students can also enjoy university's botanical garden, "Botanischer Garten der Universität des Saarlandes", and the recreation centre Uni-fit.
