• Researching on the shelf-life enhancement of millets through hermetic, plant essential oil-based
fumigants and advanced storage systems under the guidance of Dr. Vivek Babu C.S. (Senior Principal
Scientist) and Dr. Meera M. S. (Chief Scientist) at Food Protectants and Infestation Control
Department, CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, Karnataka, India.
• Conducted fumigant toxicity assay and large scale biofumigation on insect pests (primary and
secondary feeders) occurring in stored grains especially on sorghum and pearl millet with plant
monoterpenes, thereby identifying a few lead compounds.
• Predicted some common Coleopteran pests (Sitophilus oryzae, Rhyzopertha dominica, Oryzaephilus
surinamensis, Tribolium castaneum) acetylcholinesterase enzyme and studied their possible mode of
interactions with active ingredient of specific plant essential oils through molecular docking.
• Prepared handbooks regarding stored grains insect pests in regional languages like Hindi and Kannada
apart from English to create awareness among farmers.
