The IELTS is the world's most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration. It is widely accepted by more than 10,000 institutions across 140 countries worldwide. Depending upon the requirements of your study programme, you need to take either the Academic or General Training IELTS exam.
As we all know, the IELTS testing is currently suspended due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, IELTS Indicator has been introduced to meet the demands of the current situation. It has been specifically designed to help students in these uncertain times and to prevent a halt in their study abroad plans.
All the crucial questions students are having about this particular test will be answered in this article. Let's get started!

The IELTS Indicator is an online test which can be taken from the safety and comfort of your home in lieu of the regular IELTS test. IELTS Indicator is purely an academic test and has not been designed for immigration purposes.
IELTS Indicator follows the same format, structure and timing of the actual IELTS test. The test consists of four sections - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and you will receive an indicative score for each. It is marked by IELTS examiners, and the results are typically available within seven days.

As mentioned previously, the IELTS Indicator doesn't act as a substitute for the original IELTS. It is highly dependent upon the university or the educational institution if they are accepting the IELTS Indicator as a part of the application or not. It gives an indicative score and is not accepted by all organisations. With that being said, I would recommend you to check with your university before booking the test.
Here's a list of universities accepting the test currently.

The test is currently priced at $149 and you can re-sit the test if you wish to.
Test takers will need to provide their passport and identity document details when booking an IELTS Indicator Test. Test takers will also be requested to show their passport and identity document during the Speaking Test which is conducted over a video call.
Yes, there is a minimum age requirement to appear for the test. IELTS Indicator has been designed as a test for adults, and is not recommended for those under 18 years. Those aged 15 or under cannot take IELTS Indicator.
