-This 1-year fellowship offers extensive vascular and interventional training, as well as participation in both clinical and basic research. -The Interventional Radiology Section at Medical Imaging Center of Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex performs more than 5,000 procedures annually, covering the entire spectrum of diagnostic and interventional radiology. These include: 1)Diagnostic arteriography and venography 2)Angioplasty 3) Vascular stenting 4)Thrombolysis 5)Nephrostomy and retrograde pyelography 6)CVS and Amniocentesis 7)Image-guided biopsy from tumours and bone 8)Osteoid osteoma and other laser ablation procedures 9)Pain block 10)Brain Aneurysm coiling, AVM embolization, Brain Fistula treatment 11)Drainage of cysts and collections 12)Dialysis access maintenance 13)Embolotherapy 14)Vena cava filter placement 15)Intravascular foreign-body retrieval 16)Central venous catheter insertion 17)Percutaneous biliary and genitourinary interventions 18)Percutaneous gastrostomy and jejunostomy 19)Percutaneous abscess drainage and biopsy 20)Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts 21)Catheter-directed thrombolysis for the management of iliofemoral venous thrombosis 22)Carotid, vertebral, and renal artery stenting 23)Uterine artery embolization for the Treatment of fibroids 24)Percutaneous radiofrequency tumour ablation and chemoembolization 25)Treatment of varicose veins. -The special procedures area includes: 1)two state-of-the-art angiography suites, a holding area, a reception area and conferencing facilities. 2)three dedicated colour duplex ultrasound units are available for vascular imaging and procedural guidance. 3)two fast reconstructing computed tomography scanners and two magnetic resonance imaging units are also available within the department.
